Shelby County Criminal Court Judge Lee Coffee may set a trial date for Billy Ray Turner in the dea-th of Lorenzen Wright.

The physique of the retired 13-year NBA veteran was discovered riddled with gunshot wounds in a swampy subject in southeast Memphis in July 2010. Turner, in addition to Wright’s ex-wife, had been indicted in December 2017 on mur-der fees.

Turner has pleaded not responsible to mur-der and conspiracy fees in the slaying of Wright, a Memphis native who performed for the Memphis Grizzlies and 4 different NBA groups.

Turner pleaded responsible in June to possessing a weapon as a convicted felon. Prosecutors say Turner had two weapons when he was charged with Wright’s killing. Turner has been sentenced to 16 years in pri-son on the separate gun cost.

Turner, a landscaper in the Memphis suburb of Collierville, attended the identical church as Sherra Wright. Witnesses stated Sherra Wright was the mastermind of a plan to hav e two males kill Lorenzen Wright at his Atlanta house, however that try failed, in accordance to an affidavit.

Sherra Wright and Turner then conspired to kill the ex-player in Memphis, a nd that they dumped one of many weapons used in the sho-oting in a north Mississippi lake, authorities have stated. A gun that was allegedly used in the killing was discovered in the lake weeks earlier than fees had been filed in the case.
