Mexico officials raise dea-th toll from Culiacan battle to 13

MEXICO CITY (AP) – Authorities within the western Mexico state of Sinaloa have raised the dea-th toll from final week’s gunfights with cartel members to 13.

The Sinaloa state prosecutor’s workplace stated in a press release Wednesday that it had opened investigations into 13 deaths within the metropolis of Culiacan. Previously, authorities had reported eight deaths, although locals had stated there have been extra de-ad.

The assertion didn’t clarify the upper dea-th toll ensuing from occasions that unfolded per week in the past.

Gunbattles broke out in Culiacan after police and troopers tried the seize of Ovidio Guzmán, a son of imprisoned drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Officials ultimately launched Guzmán to keep away from additional bloodshed after Sinaloa cartel gunmen deployed in higher numbers.
