US Open Glance: Thiem vs. Zverev in final for 1st Slam title

NEW YORK (AP) – A fast take a look at the U.S. Open:

LOOKAHEAD TO SUNDAY

When Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev meet in the U.S. Open final, one will emerge as a first-time Grand Slam champion, one thing males’s tennis hasn’t seen in six years. This is Thiem’s fourth main title match — he’s 0-2 towards Rafael Nadal, 0-1 towards Novak Djokovic in previous makes an attempt — and Zverev’s debut in a Slam final. It had been 16 years since Grand Slam semifinals had been held with out at the very least one in all Roger Federer, Nadal or Djokovic, who had mixed to win the previous 13 main trophies and 56 of the final 67. Thiem is a 27-year-old from Austria who’s ranked No. 3 and seeded No. 2 in New York. Zverev is a 23-year-old from Germany who’s ranked No. 7 and seeded No. 5. One matchup throughout the matchup to look for is Zverev’s large serving towards Thiem’s powerful returning.

SATURDAY’S WEATHER
